»Swanhood« ist Felix Burgers mechanisches Theaterstück. Diese Publikation erscheint in Verbindung mit der Ausstellung »50/150 Utopie und Echo« im Richard Wagner Museum in Bayreuth, vom 23. Juli bis 4. Oktober 2026, als Teil des 150-jährigen Jubiläums der Bayreuther Festspiele und des 50-jährigen Jubiläums des Museums.
Vier mechanische Fabelwesen begleiten im Ausstellungsraum die filmische Transformation eines kleinen Jungen in einen Schwan. Gemeinsam mit ihm durchqueren sie eine absurde, kindlich-fragmentierte Version des Wagnerschen Welttheaters. Die Publikation dokumentiert die Installation mit zahlreichen Abbildungen und Filmstills und enthält die vollständige textliche Transkription der Arbeit.
»Swanhood« is a mechanical theatre piece by Felix Burger, on view at the Richard Wagner Museum Bayreuth from July 2026 to October 2026, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival and the 50th anniversary of the museum. Four mechanical mythical creatures accompany the cinematic transformation of a little boy into a swan. Together with him, they traverse an absurd, childlike fragmentation of Wagner’s theatrical universe. The publication documents the installation with numerous photographs and film stills and includes the complete textual transcription of the work.
